Narrative: Triptych
Process: I began my project by choosing a type of architecture within houses that has changed over time, this I chose the Spanish styled houses. I began researching the evolution of Spanish styled homes, and realized that there are three main types of housing that its seen to progress over time, the first being a Spanish Colonial Styled home, an Adobe styled home, and a Hacienda styled home. Once I found the overall styles of these Spanish houses, I researched more in depth as to what the changes are seen to be over time within theses three architecture types, and then looked online to find my reference images that I would be using for my pieces. I cut three pieces of board the same size, in which each piece of board will represent these three ideas. I then printed out my reference images, and sketched the idea of the building onto the pieces of board with a pencil. After this was completed, I used acrylic paint and color blocked the sketched of these houses to give it a more modernized look to my artwork. While painting, I used blue tape in order to allow me to obtain this clean and neat look of the lines within each of my pieces. Then when the acrylic paint was dry, I used a black and white pen to go over the smaller more intricate lunes within my pieces to give it an overall complete look.
