Form Exploration

Process-

Part #1- I began with choosing the object that I was going to use as the main idea for my artworks which is the lightbulb. I took 25 pictures of my lightbulb from multiple angles, and chose the best one to become my main reference image for all of my artworks. I then printed two copies of my reference image, one normally, and the other in black and white. I created the representation of my object with 6 pictures in this piece that slowly abstract as it goes on. The 1st one I drew I used charcoal and made it as close to the reference image as I could, 2nd I used both charcoal and water color, 3rd I used pencil and sharpie, 4th I used acrylic paint, 5th I used acrylic paint to create the lightbulb and the write the words on the inside of it, and 6th I used acrylic paint to write the word on it. After this I used rubber cement to paste my pictures onto my black foam board.

Part #2- I first came up with 10 unconventional ways to create my reference image on my paper for my piece. I then separated my paper into 10 boxes that I would draw my pictures of the lightbulbs in. I then began to draw my lightbulb with different materials such as pencil, acrylic paint, sharpie, and marker unconventionally in 10 ways. After this I matted onto a black matte foam board, my piece of art work.

Part #3-I created this by coming up with an idea for the three scale, space, and hierarchy using my twenty five reference images that I took for my project. I cut out my three pieces of paper that I was going to be using . For the first idea of scale, I used pencil, pen, sharpie, and watercolor. Then sketched my ideas out in pencil on all of my pieces of paper following my reference images, then went in with a pen and sharpie for hierarchy, pen, sharpie, and water color for the scale artwork, and watercolor for the space artwork. After that I matted my pieces onto black matte board.

Part #4- I began with creating a revised version of my three scale, space, and hierarchy pieces on three separate pieces of paper. When creating the revised versions of these pieces, I decided to use a color theme to tie all of the artworks together for a continuity when flipping through the book that was being made. I cut out my five pieces of paper that I was going to be using went in with acrylic paint for hierarchy, pen, sharpie, and water color for the scale artwork, and acrylic paint for the space artwork. I created a from cover and back cover using the same blue color scheme with a square line pattern on it. After this I hole punched a hole on the top left corners of my pieces and spray painted the backs of the pieces of paper with a yellow orange spray paint color to neaten the pieces of paper up. Then I tied these five pieces of paper together with a white piece of yarn through the holes that I hole punched through each of them which created the idea of a book showing completely.

Peer Critiques-

  • Sensory-Anna Catherine Hunt suggested that I make the lines on my scale piece from the three and five sets of artworks In a preciser way.

  • Formal/Technical-Maggie Bienko suggested that I make the shaped on the front and back cover of my book straighter and tape the shape that I want then paint inside this to create a greater effect.

  • Expressive-Ms. Johnson suggested that I make the effect that the lightbulb has in part number two and number four in the space artwork to show the lighter idea greater in the background of the second piece of paper in the three piece artwork and the third piece of paper in the five piece artwork from this.

Reflection-

Elements And Principals Of Design-

  • Element- I used line in my artwork to create the lines in the book that I made.

  • Element- I used color in my artwork when using the blue theme in my three pieces of hierarchy, scale, and space, with the book showed which.

Overall Reflection-I learned that I amorally goo at creating the intricate parts of the lightbulb when creating the reference image in all of my four projects. I could have improved the preciseness of the letters in the first part of my project in the sixth piece of paper in the order.
