Lino Cut Piece
Process: I began my project by cutting out my piece of watercolor paper and marking the areas with a pencil of where I wanted to spray paint. I then took my Lino cuts and traced them with a pencil onto my water color paper. I then chose the colors of spray paint that I wanted to use for the sky and the water, which I chose to use a dark blue green color for the water and a light blue color for the sky. After this I used a scrap piece of paper and taped it down to block off the areas besides the area of the water that I didn't want to get spray paint on. I then spray painted the water the blue green color and once it was dry enough, I removed the scrap piece of paper and tape from the water color paper. I then cut out piece of paper to the shape of the roofs of the houses and taped that scrap piece of paper to the areas besides the part that I was spray painting for the sky off to create a clean and neat idea. I then spray painted the sky with the light blue spray paint and when it was dry enough, I removed the piece of scrap paper and tape. After this, I began to print my linocuts with the block ink and followed the color pattern of green, red, yellow, green, and blue. When I finished printing I used different colors of blue water color to paint the windows within the houses. I then took a white gel pen to create the small intricate lines within the windows and doors to create this sense of idea. When I finished that, I used the Moliceiros boat lino cut and printed it onto the water area with alternating bright block ink orange colors. After the block ink had dried, I took bright colorful gel pens and created the intricate designs within the reference images that I was using of the Moliceiros boats in order to portray the specificities that are shown.
