You Are What You Eat Triptych

Process-I created my project by choosing the food that I wanted to use as my focus for these three pieces. I decided on the banana and looked for reference images online that I could use to show the different stages that my triptych was going to be in. These three ways that I wanted to show my bananas was being prepared, being consumed, and being deconstructed . I then printed my pictures out, and gridded them accordingly to the tie of my canvases. After this, I sketched out my bananas, erasing the grid marks that I made. Then I painted the bananas using acrylic paint, and painted the background of my pieces with white acrylic paint.

Reference Images-

Peer Critiques-

  • Sensory- Anna Catherine Hunt suggested that I should make the lines in my three pieces less abrupt with better blending within the rest of the object that I chose.

  • Formal/Technical-Maggie suggested that I should go back into and clean up the background of my three banana artworks with white acrylic paint to make the object stand out a greater way.

  • Expressive-Ms. Johnson suggested that I should make the second stage of the banana which is being consumed less old looking and the shadows to make it that way more subtle.

Reflection-

Elements And Principals Of Design-

  • Element- I used line in my artworks when creating the line in the banana and the bananas peel to create a realistic idea.

  • Element- I used texture in my artworks when creating the texture in the bananas to show a softer effect.

Overall Reflection-I learned that I am really good at blending the acrylic paint colors together to evenly create the shadows in my reference images that I chose. I can improve on the blending of the lines that are in the ideas of the banana to make it show less harshness.
